unable to connect over a home wireless network

For questions and discussion that is NOT (I repeat NOT) specific to a certain Operating System.

unable to connect over a home wireless network

Postby dln9 » Sun Aug 19, 2012 6:32 am

I am so confused, I hope someone will help.

At our house we have three PCs (all running Ubuntu or Linux Mint) as part of a wireless network. The firewall is disabled on each PC. The Actiontek modem/router does have a firewall built into it. It also broadcasts a wireless signal to two of the PCs. The third PC is directly connected to the router.

But, in RetroShare, I can't connect any of the PCs to each other. I don't know how to diagnose this problem.

I read a lot about port forwarding, but since all these PCs are "behind" the same firewall - the one in the modem/router - I don't think that could be an issue.

Help, please???

So what do you want to achieve, what have you tried, and what happens?

Your three RS instances have to be friends in order to connect (even if they use the same key.)
