Constant hashing of large shares.

Postby dataphreak » Tue Sep 29, 2015 4:09 am

So I have about 500 gigs shared out to friends on retroshare, and my HDD light is having it's own little rave down there. Should I be worried?

If you have a slow (20 MB/s) external USB2 HDD, it could take up to 7 hours to hash everything. At 100 MB/s (for an internal HDD) that’s one hour and a half.

If you have a very slow CPU it might slow things even more.
