Web interface

Postby daniel » Sun Jul 19, 2009 6:30 pm

Wouldn't it be cool if RetroShare controllable is by using a (optional) web interface and you can enjoy media via html5 features?
If there is interest I would like to help to help in this effort to create such an interface for a p2p desktop. However, there are some questions.

- Would it require (too) much time to change the core of RetroShare to achieve such a thing?
- Is it possible to build RetroShare without interface (without too much effort)?
- jQuery/jQuery-ui?

All comments are welcome ;)

Basically RS is a gui layer built over a file exchange library in which is all the functionality. Controlling the library using a web interface should not be too difficult to achieve. There's also a retroshare-nogui that actually contains a main() and is linked to the library.

how is the progress now for the WebInterface.

I want to Run RS on my Raspberry Pi 24/7 as a server in headless mode.

maybe only to run it sometimes with tightvnc, but mostly to control it with my android phone or my Laptop. And this WebInterface would be a really nice feature.

RSSSH client and ncrsc is new to me. i will have a look on them

I have read about the pyrs...

but a webinterface would be nice i think. maybe only a lightweight webinterface for configuration and selecting shares. without chat, forum, voip, ...
