Non-official IntroServer is now open!

Postby Costa » Sun Apr 01, 2012 8:38 pm

The IntroServer of the community is now available at this address:

The purpose is to easily make new friends through the RetroShare chat lobbies. It has been tested successfully over the last two months in the French community, and was appreciated by newcomers.

There are actually 4 languages represented: English (EN), French (FR), German (DE) and Spanish (ES). The way to go:

  1. You enter your RetroShare key.
  2. On the following page, you will have access to the chat server key which will give you access to chat lobbies where other members of the community are already chatting.
  3. Chat with other people and exchange your key!

Some non official information regarding the non-official Chat_Server:

1.) Why is the Chat_Server not my friend anymore?
=> It resets itself every 3-4 days, mostly on wednesdays, saturdays and sundays to clean cache and keys database. This means, after a couple of days it's normal that you're not connecting to it anymore. If that happens, just add him again and you'll see the Chat_Lobbies again.

2.) Why doesn't the Chat_Server ( accept my key anymore?
=> Probalby that's because you have a newer retroshare revision (>~5410) with the new certificate format up running. At the moment Chat_Server only understands the old certificate format.
There is one solution you can see and copy the old format:
Friends ==> Add Friend ==> enter certificate manualy ==> click the green button ==> "use old backward compatible format"
Then it should start with:
Version: OpenPGP:SDK v0.9

Copy the whole old certifcate and paste it to

Good luck

For the next RS release, can you please update the script so it accepts the new certificate format?
