Help Wanted! Looking for Developers

Postby defnax » Fri Jan 02, 2015 2:25 pm

Hello Guys,

We want improve RetroShare, find & fix bugs and finish some todos, which we want for a better RetroShare.
If you are not a Developer, you can help with Bug finding.
We has some todos, there are lots of more, which are not realy listed,
help use with the improvements...
Send us your work as patch to a developer or sf.net or here to the forums, but work on imported improvements and not waste your time on some things which we realy dont need it.

Some needed help:

Voip/ Video Chat Plugin:
* Launch an animation for Incoming and Outgoing voice Call
* Notify Incoming Audio Call/ Video Call via Sound
* Notify via CallToaster with a Hangup/Pikup Button
* Popup ChatWindow when i get Incoming Audi/Video Call
* Notify at ChatWindow "Alice inviting you to start a video conversation. do you want Accept or Decline the invitation?"
* Notify at ChatWindow "You have accepted the invitation to start a video conversation"
* Add for Friendslist context menu "Call" functionality
* Add for Friendslist context menu "Video Call" functionality
* Voice Messaging(record and send a voice message)

RS Wiki
As you can see, the current Wiki is a basic framework waiting to be expanded. There are lots of potential improvements... some of the ideas are listed below
Ideas:
* Formatting: No HTML, lets use Markdown or something similar.,
* Diffs, lots of edits will lead to complex merges - a robust merge tool is essential,
* Read Mode... hide all the Edits, and only show the most recently published versions,
* Easy Duplication - to take over an Abandoned or badly moderated Wiki. Copies All base versions to a new group,
* WikiLinks. A generic Wiki Cross Linking system. This should be combined with Easy Duplication option,to allow easy replacement of groups if necessary...
A good design here is critical to a successful Wiki ecosystem,
* work out how to include media (photos, audio, video, etc) without embedding in pages, this would leverage the turtle transfer system somehow - maybe like channels.
* Comments, reviews etc can be incorporated - ideas here are welcome.
* Any other suggestion???

Photos:
* Fix and improve to get working Photos (see Facebook Photos/Instagram for the design/ideas)

New Global Search:
A new feature to search the rs network for

*Search for pgp users
*Search for gxs users
*Search for #hashtags
*Search for Channels/Forums/Posted Topics/threads
*Search for Channel files if subscriped
*Search for retweets/keywords
*Search for groups

Add Search field at top, on the toolbar
Display the Search on the "Results" View page.

Hi,

I would gladly help, but I tried to compile the trunk on windows, with no luck.
Once there is a proper documentation about the build process and required libs, and tested build scripts, I will help, and I am sure others will do also.

Maybe a dev could just put on the net his c:\qt and c:\mingw folder ? Zip them and put it on mega.co.nz or share it through retroshare ?
I know it's big, in size, but who cares, if it works, it's fine by me :)

Hi !

I want to contribute in coding, but please provide en dev environment for windows.
The current build script doesn't work, and the wiki is outdated.
Thanks

Maybe it should be enhanced with a note that it doesn't work on 64-bit Windows. At least protobuf didn't build when I tried a couple of weeks ago. Maybe someone could also try to update the "cross-compiling from Ubuntu" page, doesn't work on recent Debian/Ubuntu, either.

And finally: Thunder provides builds with Qt 5.4, but this too isn't documented anyhwere.

Bye...

But the build script is from thunder he is using 64bit.
I has no 64bit windows, but you can test and find how to compile on 64-bit?
but you doesnt reported the error outputs? you can update the instructions for 64 bit.

not sure i must speculate, ifit was a trouble with mingw or with curl or else?
Mingw for 64 bit system:

On my side I'm setting up jenkins to build trunk and 5.5 with latest QT (5.4.0) on windows + ubuntu
It will build automatically everytime there is a new changeset on subversion. (not sure if changeset is the appropriate term for svn though ? I'm more a mercurial guy..)

Yes, I could give it another try. There's a ref to mingw64 on the wiki page now.

but you doesnt reported the error outputs?

At least I reported problems building on 64-bit Windows in the RS06 internal forum (see below)...

you can update the instructions for 64 bit.

Would need write access to the wiki, then.

protobuf didn't compile (or configure, can't remember exactly).

But anyway, I'd prefer the cross-compilation approach, since the Windows machines I have access to are not my own. So if someone could update the cross-compilation page, that would be great.

Bye...

Dirk
