chownat and pwnat, enable NAT to NAT communication

Postby Carlos Baiget » Mon Mar 05, 2012 11:45 am

I think that enabling NAT to NAT communication could boost RS adoption. Maybe this tools can make it possible?

pwnat seems to require root privileges, because it sends modified icmp messages. Running RetroShare as root is not a good idea.

RetroShare already supports udp connections to pass the NAT barrier, however they take longer to establish as they're negotiated using the DHT.

The root issue can be solved with an additional process. One process is retroshare running as user and a another very small process is running as root, acting as pwnat and accepting commands from retroshare.

NAT to NAT is most important for RS.
